About Winter Park and the Owners
The Winter Park ski area is actually owned by the City of Denver. It is operated and managed by the
IntraWest Corporation. The ski area is over 60 years old and is located in the beautiful Fraser River Valley. The Fraser
River is one of the major tributaries that feeds into the Colorado River. Winter Park is a "family friendly" town.
Both the ski resort and facilities in the town work very hard to maintain this family friendly kind of atmosphere. If you are
skiing, the person who helps you get on the lift chairs will greet you and share his/her smile. The businesses in town
are happy you are here and do everything they can to show this with excellent service, great food, and friendly staff.
Winter Park is located in Grand County which is also the home to most of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The
nearby town of Fraser provides major shopping opportunities with a large Safeway Store and the ALCO store is like a "mini WalMart"
in case you forgot to bring something with you.
Check out any of the super restaurants in town. We highly recommend
Hernandos to families. Located on the other end of town from our condo, they make some super home made pizza chicago style and
also have some great dishes and stromboli sandwiches. Look for the Hernandos sign on your right as you head
towards Fraser and just before you leave Winter Park or ask any local person for directions. Check out their menu at theHERNANDOS web site.
Randy's has some great Irish dishes and some very resonable prices - on the right side as you move
from the condo towards Fraser. And no Randy is not the name of the owner - it is the name of his dog. They also have a
great apres ski bar here.
One of our favorites is Gaushaus Eichler - the German restaurant has great owners and a fantastic
chef. If you want to save a little, get there before 6pm for the early bird special. Check out the menu as the Gaushaus
Eichler The restaurant is located on the left side of the road as you head towards Fraser and is just beyond the MacDonalds also
on your left.
Several restuarants are located in our outdoor shopping mall such as Smokin Moes - great for sandwiches
and ribs. Check out the locals favorite Carvers Bakery Cafe just beyond the west end of the parking garage. Carver's offers
hearty and tasty breakfasts and lunches 7 days a week. Good coffee and homemade pastries and breads baked fresh daily. All homemade
soups and stews and vegetarian options.
How about some Chinese food with convenient take out in less than 15 mins
or eat in - your option. The New Hong Kong is located on the top of the Cooper Creek Mall in Winter Park - find the steps
to the 3rd floor and you are there.
Have a hankering for some Italian food - try Carlos and Marias on the second floor
of the mall. They have some fantastic Italian dishes and home made pizza.
One of our favorites is the Hungry
Bear in the Kings Crossing Mall. Great Mexican food, great sandwiches and a super Soup and Salad bar. All the soups are
home made. Order soup and salad and eat all you want after a workout on your bike or on the ski hill. Debbie's favorite
- Fontenots - is in the same mall at the opposite end of the Hungry Bear. Fontenot’s Seafood and Grill is dedicated to providing
a slice of New Orleans with the freshest and highest quality dining experience in the Winter Park area. Also check out the Voo Doo
bar that is part of the waiting area. Click on this link to see the Fontenot's Menu.
This is just a small sample of the
dining options. Go to the Winter Park visitor center (across the street from McDonalds) formore info or visit the Winter Park
Visitor Center Web Site
Need Some Groceries? Our Safeway store is just 3 miles from the condo. The store is on your right (on US Route 40)- - just
turn right at the traffic light and you are there. This is a full size store and is about the same size as the stores in
Denver.
This is the sign at the entrance to the Beaver Village Condos on US Route 40 just south of downtown Winter Park.
Come visit the magic of Winter Park and see this beautiful Cooper Creek Square Mall at night - great restaurants and great shops.
